Right click on the image, click on Hyperlink, then make sure you have the advanced section showing and you can fill in the Rel tag there.

To use the new Lightbox support, if you're an existing Windows Live Writer user, you need to Reconfigure your account. This is so that Writer will notice that Lightbox is installed on your blog.

Weblog | Edit Weblog Settings | Update Account Configuration

Once you've done that, when you insert a picture, on the sidebar under "Link To" if you've selected Source Image (which is the default) you should see something about Lightbox right under it. If you click the Options button you will have the option to disable Lightbox (it's enabled by default).

    Hope that helps!

Yep, I am doing this way now, but it's not convenient.

I need switch from "Source image" type link to URL link entering some fake temporary uri (because iin source image link options there is no rel tag textbox), than switch back (thanks it's preserving rel tag).

Nothing appearing... Is it detecting lightbox automatically? What if I have custom lightbox script? Can I provide somewhere manually that my blog support lightbox feature?

It does detect Lightbox automatically (or at least it's supposed to!), based on the presence of a <script> tag whose source ends with "lightbox.js" (and we look for a bunch of other patterns for other Lightbox-like scripts).

Does your custom lightbox script not end with "lightbox.js"?

I've all my script combined in just on script, so there is no js file ending with lightbox.js, and WLW cannot detect it.
Maybe a checkbox to flag somewhere in the blog account config would be a good solution

How do I get to the script to edit it? I am a novice user of wordpress and code challenged.
