In this reply, I just capitaized the similarities in our problems. Dont worry, Im not shouting
I have the ALMOST EXACT same problem. I was using Windows Media Player while it was WORKING PERFECTLY and I CLOSED IT. I try to open it, but now when I press the toolbar shortcut, It just becomes a light orange for A FEW SECONDS, then fades. I also got the computer YESTERDAY, very similar to your problem. I am very frustrated with Windows 7, especially because I bought this computer two days ago. Windows needs to fix the simple problems first before they begin fixing very detailed problems.

- Right Click on the Task Bar (the tray below your screen)
- Select Task Manager
- Browse to Windows Media Player
- Right Click on it (ie, WMP)
- Click on End Process
- Then re-start your WMP.
Only performance counts!
