activation problem

  so I installed windows 8 and everytime I click on activate windows it says "waiting to connect" it stays like that for more than an hour, I even  left it on the activation screen and went to sleep.

  PS; I bought windows 8 so its not cracked or fake one, and I used to have windows 7 home edition.
