Unfortunately, the best that I can do is advise you to submit your logs with a bug report. I see that you saw the other thread. It is possible that there is a conflicting program running on that device or some service dependency that is broken.

The Live Mesh mobile client lists the folders, but when you click on the folder in the list, it should open File Explorer for a folder that exists on the device and is synchronized to your Mesh or your default browser if the folder in on the Live Desktop, but not synchronized with your device.

Are you working on it? Please: It would be a nice application..!Sunday, July 26, 2009 6:07 PM -
Since Live Mesh is still a beta, it would be a likely assumption that the developers are working on it as several people have reported this as a bug. Unfrotunately, I can't tell you for sure and I don't know when it may be resolved.

I have a Touch HD with Windows Mobile 6.5 running and I have the problem also seen on various other devices where the client opens for the "Starting Live Mesh" splash screen and then exits.
I have submitted a bug with a log to https://connect.microsoft.com/LiveMesh/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=481053.
I was just wondering if anyone has any news / suggestions on the problem and workarounds?

Hi everybody
Any updates on the Live Mesh client for Windows Mobile devices? I would like to use it on my HTC Touch Diamond2, but it immediately crashes without any error message, after starting Live Mesh.
The error was already described here at the Connect portal: http://connect.microsoft.com/LiveMesh/feedback/ViewFeedback.aspx?FeedbackID=434094
But unfortunately, it seems, that nothing has been done on this issue. Anyone else having the same problems? Or even a fix to solve it?
Thanks for any comment.

I'm actually going to merge your psot with the thread over in the mobile forum for this issue. There are lots of people reporting this and, unfortunately, I have no update regarding progress on resolving it. The thread I'm merging your post to contains a few responses from people who found conflicting apps that, when disabled, allowed Live Mesh to work on the device.

Hope it will be fixed soon:)Sunday, August 23, 2009 5:50 AM -
I don't know that this is actually ananswer, but I have a work around that has been doing well all day... If I start PIE and minimize it, I can then start Live Mesh and it logs in/syncs just fine. Once it is logged in and started looking for changes, PIE can be closed.
It has been going well for me all day so far... :)- Proposed as answer by Bleak Morn Tuesday, November 17, 2009 4:44 AM

As I said... It has been working al day... It always looked to me like it was trying to log on so I figured that if I logged onto Live Mesh through PIE that it would have a "logon"... It didn't actualy need the logon... Just PIE... It has worked a dozen or more times on mine, so... :)Monday, August 31, 2009 11:11 PM

It should not be. As noted in this thread, the current version apparently doesn't work well or at all on the Touch Pro hardware/image.

I got a new Touch Pro 2 yesterday. Being unable to use Live Mesh with my previous phone (Touch Pro 1), I thought I'd give it a shot.
When I installed the cab file (which was placed on the storage card) I found that the installation created a folder under \Storage Card\Application Data\Live Mesh. A strange location, I thought, because all other settings are stored under \Applicaton Data (on the device, not on the storage card). But I'd thought that Live Mesh was right.
Starting Live Mesh resultet in a crash in the exe file.
Then I deleted the \Storage Card\Application Data\Live Mesh folder, restarted Live Mesh, and what do you know! It works!Friday, September 11, 2009 1:27 PM -
Interesting. Thanks for reporting your experience.

I have the same problem as sp1der975 -- problem with HTC Touch Pro 2.
(It's worked well for me on other phones in the past - HTC Touch and HTC Ozone.)Monday, September 14, 2009 4:50 PM -
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I have a Touch Pro 1 which I installed Live Mesh app on and have had working absolutely fine until yesterday. It would sync and login when required and did not crash at all on login.
Yesterday I was messing around with the device and installed the Manila 2 port from Touch Pro 2 onto the device to use the slicker interface. Having done that, however, Live Mesh will now crash immediately every time I attempt to launch it. It sounds like most people reporting this bug are using the Touch Pro 2 or similar, which could back up this theory?
Incidentally, Live Mesh will still crash if I disable the Touchflo 3D item in Today settings. Logically, the next step would be to do a hard reset and see if I can then get Mesh to work again on my device but to be honest, Mesh is not critical to me and I don't really want to go through hassle of configuring everything again. Perhaps someone with a similar configuration might be able to prove/disprove this theory?
Hope that helpsWednesday, September 23, 2009 11:08 AM -
Your theory sounds plausible. At this point, we're hoping to see an updated mobile client released that resolves the issue. I don't know when that will be, though. We've not heard anything at all about an update in the pipeline.

Just to follow up on my above work-around (of adding a MicroSD card)...
today Mesh Mobile crashed again and would not start.
So, I removed the MicroSD card and re-inserted it again.
Now Mesh Mobile is working fine again.Tuesday, October 6, 2009 7:29 PM -

Running Pocket IE, then running Mesh seems to have allowed me past the crash.
Unfortunately I can't seem to sync any folders. :(

Unfortunately, you'll need to wait for a new version of the mobile client, release date unknown, in order to use Live Mesh on the later HTC devices.

You're right. It has been in beta for quite some time and it is frustrating that we have not seen an update to the mobile client to address the issue with the newer HTC devices. Hopefully we will see an update soon as the Windows Live Wave 4 beta hits early in 2010.

What is Windows Live Wave 4? I haven't even heard of it, can you fill me in?Monday, December 28, 2009 12:04 AM -
The Windows Live services and programs were updated last time to "Wave 3" - that would be the latest versions of Windows Live Messenger, Mail, Photo Gallery, etc. and the services like SkyDrive, Live Sync, Windows Live Spaces, Hotmail, and more. The next release is called Wave 4 and rumor has it that it will hit beta early in 2010. There have also been rumors that Live Mesh and Live Sync will combine in some fashion in Wave 4.

One can hope. Historically though Live Mesh Mobile (LMM) updates have not been associated with other Windows Live waves or rollouts.
-steve
When LMM worked on my phone I'd be notified of updates periodically by the client. Since it doesn't work now, we're just going to have to keep an eye on threads like this and Twitter chatter about Live Mesh to stay on top of updates. :(
Doesn't seem to be a lot of Live Mesh related Twitter traffic lately - with foreign language posts making most of the volume (is something Interesting happening with Live Mesh in Asia right now?).

I just installed livemesh on my pc and accessed livemesh from my att tilt2 and uploaded a picture and a file with no problem using IE browser.
i uploaded the doc and pic from storage card.
i think this is so exciting, its silly!
it does not seem that easy to select a picture to upload. it seems one has to select from the list of pic files in the folder, and it is diffult to identify the right pic from the file name (eg: "image_029")
hopefuly there will be a way to have a mesh folder kept on the phone, as it is on the pc, and items such as pictures moved into this folder (menu, move to mesh folder) will go into the mesh. or does this exist already?

It does already exist. See the announcement at the top of this forum for how to register for and download the client software. I don't know if the Tilt2 is one of the devices that the current client has issues with, though. The newer HTC devices and Live Mesh for Mobile don't play well as you can see in this thread.

when i use the mesh.com website that is mentinoed at "the top of this forum", it does not respond to anything when loaded using IE. on that announcement at the top of the forum, there is one option for wm 6 and 6.1, but i have WM 6.5.
i went to the m.mesh.com site, which i had used before.
i tried selecting "add windows mobile device to mesh" and on the resulting page selected DOWNLOAD to add my device to the mesh, and i got the "the page cannot be found http error 404"
i am using WM 6.5 on tilt2.
i hope this can be fixed.
for now, i can just add files or pics to the livemesh desktop, even though my mobile device is not added to the mesh.

Note: bottom line of this post is that I did get Live Mesh Mobile Client successfully installed on my HTC Touch Pro.
Because I am using a Mac as my main system (I do have Windows systems, too), I ended-up sending the .CAB through email and then downloading it to my Storage Card. I then tried installing it from my Storage Card and though the installation said it was successful, it would not execute. When I clicked-to-start, it would say it was starting and then just end. No other messages. I looked in the log and didn't see any obvious reason why it wouldn't start -- it was timing out on something -- so went looking through these pages. I found that it cannot be installed on the storage card. So much for that. So, after uninstalling and getting rid of the old subdirectory on the storage card *and* (after an unsuccessful reinstall) uninstalling again and moving the .CAB off the storage card and onto the device.
After installing from the device onto the device all came up OK and I was able to login.
I did try connecting to my wireless LAN but that didn't seem to have an effect either way.
In any event, it's up and running; now to try syncing some content to it....
I do hope that Storage Card support will come in the future -- sure would be be more useful. I'm running it on Mac Snow Leopard, Vista 32-bit, Vista 32-bit under VMware Fusion 3.x, Server 2008 Enterprise Edition, and XP Pro for Tablet PCs (besides the HTC Touch Pro Mobile 6.1) and have been running it for several years, now successfully.

So did this ever get fixed?
Should I install this on my Touch Pro 2 now or is it still a waste of time?
It's been several months, so I would hope it's fixed now.
Or has Windows Mobile 6.5 been totally abandonded?
Tuesday, May 4, 2010 11:07 PM -
on my htc tp2
on browser IE go to
m.mesh.com
it says "welcome to love mesh"
you sign in (only have to do so once) and you can see your live mesh desktop when you go to "home"
i can upload or download documents to this live desktop.
however, when i try to "download" in order to "add windows mobile devise to mesh" there is error message
"page cannot be found http error 404 etc.
therefore, it is not possible to keep docs on the device in sync with live desktop.
however, you can download a doc, change it and reupload it.

You will not be able to add the HTC Touch Pro2 (or any HTC device running WM6.5) to your Mesh. It's a known issue with this version, unfortunately.

Dang, so at this point I guess it's safe to assume there are no plans to ever fix it.
So here we are at the end of Windows Mobile 6.5 life, and the devices released almost a year ago that run Windows Mobile 6.5 will never work with this.
Anyone with any connections at Microsoft, please make sure the higher ups know that this is a prime example of why everyone I know, myself included, is switching to Android and will never consider another Windows Mobile, or Windows Phone, device.
I have used nothing but Windows Mobile/Pocket PC devices exclusively since 2003. And the Touch Pro 2 is the end of the line for me.
I'll make sure to stay away from HTC Android devices too since I know they are paying Microsoft royalties on them for some strange reason.
You just can't abandon your loyal customers like that and expect them to stand by you. Us Touch Pro 2 and HD2 users are the people who still bought Windows Mobile devices when everyone else had already abandonded Microsoft. Everyone told us how dumb we were to stand by Windows Mobile, and yet we did it anyway. And this is the thanks we get.
Apple is about 2 steps from me considering an iPhone- they just need to open it up a bit more. But Android and Palm are already there. So long Microsoft.
Wednesday, May 5, 2010 1:38 PM -
I don't know what the plans are moving forward, but right now the build that is available to us won't work reliably, if at all, on WM6.5 HTC devices.
I have to assume that there will be a solution is the future - I also find it frustrating since I have the HTC Pure that I got when my trusty TYNII device died. New device, WM6.5, no Live Mesh. :-(
