I gotta tell you Fix It can't fix a damm thing. I have many problems with PC latley. Became worse after downloading Break It (opps meant Fix It) and requesting assistance from Microsoft. Why does it not fix problems like you giys advertise? I've read afew post it seems like Microsoft sold us another piece of s*&%t. People need help !!!! All I've seen on Fix It site is where people have more problems after using youir fine product. They come to you for help with thier PC already frustrated and uipset and one of the first things they see is your post telling them WHAT NOT TO RIGHT. Your post should be removed. It only adds fuel to the fire. Also a great repesentation of Microsoft.Friday, November 12, 2010 2:25 PM

I have noticed that the downloadable version of Fix-It no longer works in Vista...I can't say about Windows 7. Bu the ON-LINE version still works just fine and has fixed many (but not all) of my problems. Which, since it is a free service to begin with I consider satisfactory. So anyone who is whining about Microsoft "selling" them a bill of goods in regards to this FREE service is already misrepresenting the facts and should be ignored.Friday, July 29, 2011 12:38 PM

Thus far the Fix it app has not been of any help. I still use IE8 with windowsXP when I go to web sites like Qwiki.com and some others IE crashes and freezes up. I like the idea behind this tool/app since I am still learning and am to poor to pay someone to help me out and all the people in forums act like your a fool if you ask to many questions or do not understand what they are trying to say. Hope you get this tool to work better. Thank you much.Tuesday, November 15, 2011 9:49 AM

Hello All!
I had a USB issue with one of my Maxtor 4 plus USB drives that the DEFAULT driver in Windows apparently could not handle, which resulted in a blue screen error (even after all updates were processed on a new reinstall of OS and BIOS update). I downloaded and ran the offline Microsoft fixit 50052 for USB which finished up with the statment that it was processing. After a day went by the blue screen appeared again and I repeated the offline fixit solution with the same result. After some thought, I installed the Maxtor drivers that were on the drive itself and this appears to have corrected the problem. My issue with the drive appears to be solved.
The reason for my writing today is that the User Interface (or written content of it) of the fixit file does not appear to be as user friendly as it could be. I felt as if I was left waiting for something usefull to happen when the statement came up on my screen that fixit was processing. A little bit more technical explanation would have been helpful and a disclaimer that fixit can not fix all issues (a little honesty) would have gone a long way to add some re assurance to my doubts about the program. As it stands, I do not think that Microsoft fixit 50052 did any good to repair the issue with my USB issue, but it did give me pause to think about installing the Maxtor factory drivers, which does appear to have corrected the problem. I would have sent this information to Microsoft via the reply questionaire in fixit, but I have deleted the program from my PC as it did not appear to have solved the issue.
I like the idea of fixit and will probably use again it in the future even though it did not solve my issue this time around.

Tried the fix it program and am getting the same "unexpected error" for each item:
"An error occurred while troubleshooting:
An unexpected error occurred, the troubleshooting wizard cannot continue.

Seems like a great idea if it worked. Can you help?

...seems LOTS OF US have the same experience! I always wonder if they are just offering bogus help programs for the purpose of browsing our computers...is that even possible?

It still has the problem
Here's the message: Fixit Troubleshooter has experienced an unexpected error and cannot continue.
It may have to do with trying to update.

Fix It tool is the worst tool i saw till now for fixing problems. The tool should not use the name Microsoft in it, it is so bad. It doesn't fix anything. It can't even fix its self.

About not working in Vista...
I have seen the downloadable version do some things but not others (that is says it has "fixed").
For instance, I ran the downloadable FIX-IT tool for "IE Performance and Safety". Note that I can't even find this in the online version...
It (correctly) picked up that I don't have Data Execution Prevention (DEP) turned on for IE. I checked my DEP settings and sure enough it is set for "essential windows programs and services only". So I let Fix-it do it's thing and it said it was fixed (meaning it had enabled DEP for IE). When I go back to the DEP settings nothing has changed. When I run Fix-it again, it picks up the same thing, confirming it did not fix it. I know that it has made some changes, for instance turning on Pop-Up blocker, or changing the cache settings, but it is not succeeding with the DEP setting change.

Daniel,
Your Windows Live Solution Center identified in 1) above is a blank page. It does not link to anything.
If you are developing a Fix it troubleshooter for Windows Live Mail, please advise. The forum recommendations have not
been functional.
Thank you in advance...
