Offline Microsoft Translation API RRS feed

  • Question

  • We currently use the online translation API and it works excellently, but are now presented with a scenario that users might not have connectivity (physical or security reasons) and we need to still be able to provide translations.

I've seen some "watch this space" comments, but nothing definite. Is there any ability for us to do offline translations with Microsoft Translator and if so, how, and if not - is it in the works, or do we (ugh) need to look at other options somehow?

    Many thanks!

    Ben

Answers

  • Sorry, no. Don't know if this helps, but you may cache translations locally and reproduce them when offline.

  • Hi Ben,

The Microsoft Translator apps on Windows and Android offer offline translation. This is not exposed as an API on these devices.

  • Thanks Chris. Are there any options provided by Microsoft for offline translation that we can hook into with our application?

    Cheers,

  • Thank you for the prompt responses. Not what I was hoping for, but clear nonetheless.
