    When the first chord of a bar has been cleared (and the second chord left in place), the chord from the preceding bar does not carry over, as one would expect. Instead, the second chord sounds throughout the bar. In order to make the chords change correctly one has to enter the (redundant) chord symbol.

    Good find!  Sorry about this, you're right that this isn't sensible behavior.

    Songsmith is no longer in active development, so sadly this likely won't change... a decent workaround is to leave that first chord empty but lock it that way.
