This isn't something we are going to fix, four years ago we migrated from a legacy platform and code looked different.

1) Since our last release, when replying to a post in IE 7 or IE 8 (Not in compatability mode), it automatically scrolls to the right.

Hi Ed, I think Chris has them on SharePoint 2010 general Q&A (old), whereas Ivan had then on the SharePoint 2007 version of that forum.
