error: HPC run Failed: Unknown error occured: System.Security.SecurityException: The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship.

    Question

  • We're upgrading to HPC 2016 and received this error when we run our application. HPC run Failed: Unknown error occured: System.Security.SecurityException: The security database on the server does not have a computer account for this workstation trust relationship.

Our user accounts are in one domain (abc) and our cluster is in a separate domain (xyz).  We have a one way trust where our domain XYZ trust ABC so that users are able to authenticate without any issues.  In our 2012 R2 Update 3 setup, this does not present any issues and we can run our application.  This does not work under 2016.  We have rebuilt the 2016 HN a few times already.  We also setup a test HN in our User domain and it works fine when the HN and user accounts are in the same domain.  Any idea why this does not work in 2016 but works under 2012?

    thanks

  • Where is the error coming from? Are you setting up a remote SQL? And the SQL is in another domain?

The scenario you're describing should work. But we need more details to diagnose your problem. You can send more information to hpcpack@microsoft.com
