"Provide Installation Credentials" - Question

    Question

  • Trying to setup a hybrid cluster with HN on-premise and trying to add Azure IaaS nodes, and the requirement to have a SOA deployment with Azure IaaS bursting:

    1) Is the credentials (on premise AD) provided in "Provide installation credentials" under Configuration used only while adding Azure nodes to the cluster (or) is it also used while adding on-premise, domain joined Windows based workstation/compute nodes?

    2) Our IT policy is that the domain user accounts passwords expire every "n" days and they need to be changed.

          a) Do I need to update the  credential info in "Provide installation credentials" whenever a password is changed and delete *all* the existing Azure IaaS Nodes and recreate new node(s) to have the new password take effect?

          b) What will happen to the existing (non-domain) Azure nodes already on the cluster? How to RDP into them and even worse, how does SOA deployment work with the password changed on these nodes?

  • 1) Used by both for IaaS node and on-permises node, For PaaS nodes, it is specified in the node template (RDP)

    2) No need.

    3) RDP from the cluster manager shall still work. SOA deployment won't use these passwords. That account only used to join the node to existing domain. And not used after that.

  • 2)a) You don't need to re-create existing Azure IaaS nodes, but you need to update the installation credentials before you create new Azure IaaS nodes, if you failed to do so, the new Azure IaaS nodes cannot join in the domain due to wrong password.
