  • Question

  • I am using HPC 2016 Update 1.

    I saw this message box when in Configuration -> Services.

    My services run and have no issues.

    May I know if my service registration file has something wrong? Please advise.

  • I added the following line in the service registration file. The warning is gone. May I know why?

    <system.diagnostics>
        <sources>
          <source name="System.ServiceModel" switchValue="Off,ActivityTracing"
            propagateActivity="true">
            <listeners>

              </add>
            </listeners>
          </source>
        </sources>
      </system.diagnostics>

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

    Could you please collect ClusterManager logs for us to do further investigation? They can be found at %CCP_LOGROOT_USR%\ClusterManager\HpcClusterManager_*.bin. You can zip at least 10 log files to ensure it contains the log line for your issue, and sent the archive to hpcpack@microsoft.com.

    Thanks,
    Zihao

  • Hi Zihao,

    I started HPC Cluster Manager and immediately got this "Value cannot be null" error popped up as by default Configuration->Services is selected. Then I closed HPC Cluster Manager, there is another error popped up for about 5 seconds then disappeared. The pop up shows this:

    An unhandled exception occurred: A task was cancelled..

    Try restarting HPC Cluster Manager, or contact your cluster administrator. If the problem persists, contact Microsoft Support.

    The above steps created two bin files (I cleared all the old bin files and I parsed them go the following warning:

    When we run Cluster Manager on the head node, we don't get this pop up.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Hu,

    Thanks for your feedback. What's your HPC Pack version? It's a sequence of numbers like "5.2.6239.0".

    Thanks,

    Zihao

  • Hi Zihao,

    In HPC Cluster Manager -> Help -> About, it shows:

    HPC Pack 2016

    Server version: 5.1.6086.0

    Client version: 5.1.6086.0

    Thanks!

  • Hi Dan,

    What you mentioned looks like a known issue in 5.1.6086. We have already resolved that. Could you try to upgrade to the latest version of HPC Pack (get here https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=57703) and SDK (https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.HPC.SDK/) first?

    Thanks,
    Zihao
