Sharepoint 2016 Enable "pwasite" feature RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I could successfully create my Project Server site as per following blog https://blog.devoworx.net/2015/10/16/install-and-configure-project-server-2016/#comment-4226

Unfortunately at the final step enable "pwasite" Feature I always get following error message:

Post provision setup failed. CreateBuiltInLookupTableAndCustomFields failed.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Thanks, Markus

  • Hi Michael,

Yeah that is the right wording for SharePoint...

The only way I ened up successfully with your scrip was at the end a new server installation. THANKS anyway.

What could be a guess for my mistake was the fact  that I did run the configuration wizard in my first installation where I did not on my second try.

  • Hi Markus,

Do you get any more details in the SharePoint ULS logs?

  • Hello Markus,

You will need to look in the log file that was use with the correct time stamp then look in that log file at the approximate time the error occurred. I haven't seen this issue before so not sure what will be in the log files.

  • Hello Paul,

What I could find that is looking somehow as an error is following part in the log file:

The PsiService is not provisioned and online on any server in the farm

Is this message helpful for you?

    Thanks, Markus

  • Go to SharePoint central and verify that project server is started.

  • Hi Michael,
One of the first check I have done ;-) Hope the Name given from the blog is not the cause of the error?
Sorry in German....with a try of translation
    PWA_SVC                          Project-Anwendungsdienste(Service Application)                     Gestartet(started)
     Verbinden mit PWA_SVC    Project-Dienste-Anwendungsproxy(Service-applicationproxy)   Gestartet(started)

The service Connection is "marked" under my web application

    Thanks, Markus

  • Hello Markus

SharePoint is very finicky.   I often have to remove or delete a previous step or two and then move forward again.  And in worst, case I go all the way back to the beginning and rebuild.

The link below is an a powershell script for installing and configuing Project Server 2016 beta

  • In my case project server service application was stopped.

I started from Manage Services from server and then everything is ok.
