prepareNodeCommandLine task error 267

Question

• Trying to map an on-premise drive from Azure node by using the prepareNodeCommandLine as follows:

and it gives an error:

HpcSoa Information: 10011 : HpcServiceHost entry point is called.
HpcSoa Information: 10011 : Executing 'net use <on-premise-ip-address>\share /user:domain\user password'
HpcSoa Error: 10013 : Cannot start pre/post task: 'net use \\<on-premise-ip-address>\share /user:domain\user password'. Exit code = 267

The task output before the one above is as follows:

HpcSoa Information: 10011 : HpcServiceHost entry point is called.
HpcSoa Information: 10011 : Executing 'net use \\<on-premise-ip-address>\share /user:domain\user password'
'\\<on-premise-ip-address>\share'
CMD.EXE was started with the above path as the current directory.
UNC paths are not supported. Defaulting to Windows directory.
The command completed successfully.

HpcSoa Information: 10011 : ExitCode = 0

If I open an explicit cmd prompt on the Azure node and run the above command, it works just fine. What am I missing here?

I even tried pushd to users\Public directory and popd as follows and that did not work either:

pushd c:\users\public & net use <on-premise-ip-address>\share /user:domain\user password & popd

Trying to avoid azure blob storage and related maintenance.
