Technet Gallery license and software? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good morning all,

I have developed some software that I have previously been selling as a service to my customers and I would like to share it on the TechNet Gallery for free; however, the licensing is a bit confusing. I see options for MIT, MS-LPL, and TechNet terms of use.

The software is not MIT, as I do not want to offer it to be freely modified. The other two options seem to suggest that Microsoft would own the IP which I also do not want.

Even further the gallery has a disclaimer stating: "Each contribution is licensed to you under a License Agreement by its owner, not Microsoft. Microsoft does not guarantee the contribution or purport to grant rights to it."

Where may the best place be to host my software and am I reading the gallery correctly? I'm too confused.
