Public Beta Install RRS feed

  • Question

  • Just installed LCS 2007 Public Beta. We are currently running LCS 2003 and opted to leap over 2005 and go direct to 2007. It is currently installed and running in our production environment. However, we and running into a couple of strange issues.

    1. There are 2 communications tabs in the mmc displaying the same information
    2. We can log into the OCS 07 client only if the account wasnt previuosly "sip enabled" using the 2003 method.

To elaborate on #2, it was suggested that I disable the account using the 2003 mmc then try enabling it using the 2007 mmc. Tried that and got the following error:

"Cannot move user to a different Server or pool and change other user properties at the same time"

Im starting to wonder whether 2003 and 2007 can co-exist. If so is there any documentation to support the method of migrating a 2003 user account to 2007

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi JoeC,

The Public Beta documentation can be downloaded here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=0A3E2593-5812-4BF5-A554-3215CBBA587A&displaylang=en#filelist

The best document for your issue would be the Migrating to OCS 2007 guide.  On page 3, the guide states:

The only upgrade path supported for Office Communications Server 2007 Public Beta is side-by-side migration from Live Communications Server 2005 with SP1 or a complete uninstall of Beta 3 and a new deployment of public beta.

Migrating from LCS 2003 is not supported and I haven't been able to find any resources on migrating 2003 users yet. if I do, I will post them here or create a FAQ. Hopefully, reading the public beta documents will assist you in migrating.
