  Subnodate noticing the amount of questions you have asked lately and to ensure you are successful I highly recommend you invest in training right away, see this for training partners/resources/books etc... http://www.microsoft.com/project/en/us/train-learn.aspx

  And Baseline are not required, it all depends what is your methodology... Project Server offers multiple tracking options

  I see Christophe responded to you in similar fashion to what I wrote in another thread. If you intend to use variance indicators, as you expressed the desire for in another thread, then you most definitely will want to start saving baselines, as these are your basis for detecting variance in your schedules. What you should do to launch this tools to a group of newbies, is to keep your schedules very simple to start, and add levels of detail to them as you learn how to use the toolset. Training is important.
