SessionProgress Event RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    we implemented two Custom Providers.
Everything works great so far. But we have a problem with the SessionProgress-Event.For example if we upload 10 Items the event is  called for each item. But the value for CompletedWork and TotalWork of SyncStagedProgressEventArgs is always 0. I expected to get 1 of 10, ...2 of 10..... What could be wrong here? Do we have to set anything else inside the providers? Version of MSF is CTP2.

    Thank you!
    Stefan L.

  • Hi Stefan,

What you are seeing is the default "heartbeat" progress reporting, one event per change.

If you would like to see numbers different from 0, the source provider has to provide:

    • work estimates on each item change (by setting the WorkEstimate property on each ItemChange)
    • a work estimate for the batch (by setting the BatchWorkEstimate property on the ChangeBatch)
    • a total work estimate for the session (by setting the SessionWorkEstimate on the change batch)

  • Any ideas?
You can also see this in the example
    http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/sync/Release/ProjectReleases.aspx?ReleaseId=615
CompletedWork and Totalwork is 0 all the time.

  • Shouldn't the metadata store be able to provide this information?
