windows media player wont open in vista

  I Have resolved this but as I couldn’t find the solution on here I thought I would post a solution that worked for me.

  I worked through all the suggestions here...

  none of which worked but I think the only worthwhile fix from that was 

    goto start bar type cmd then shift+ctrl+enter (not just enter unless UAC is off)

    then type regsvr32 jscript.dll + enter

    then type regsvr32 vbscript.dll + enter

    But in addition to this I had to then type ...

    regsvr32 wmp.dll + enter

  This additional reg command seemed to fix it
