No Live Mesh Right Click Menu Under Windows 7 RC RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • The Live Mesh right-click menu (Check for Updates, Help, Options..., etc.) does not appear on my Windows 7 RC (32 bit) laptop.

I am also trying to cure a subdirectory of a Live Mesh folder that is not synchronizing.  This folder has been modified by Expression Web (shows a Web folder icon now). The subdirectory does not show up on the other devices as other subdirectories do.

  • I don't have access to a Windows 7 machine at the moment to verify, but I do seem to recall that I had the right click menu on all Win7 machines.

What kind of folder is this? location and name would be helpful - and why did Expression Web modify the folder? If it is a Live Mesh synchronized folder, it should be a blue folder icon.

  • The right click menu problem is unique to Live Mesh.  The Windows Home Server client shows a right click menu, as do all other tasks displayed that ordinarily show a menu on right click.

This is the synchronized folder path:

    C:\EAAChapter17

    This is the non-synchronizing subdirectory:

    C:\EAAChapter17\WebSiteRevision

You will have to ask the Expression Web team why they feel the need to alter the folder graphic.  Since it is a subdirectory of a Mesh folder, it does not display a blue folder in Windows Explorer, nor do the other subdirectories that synchronize just fine.

I appreciate any help, and I imagine you'll be tracking this as it goes on.  I see there have been 8 views so far, less than an hour after posting.  Very remarkable!  As usual, my intent is to reveal bugs where I encounter them, whether or not "it works on somebody else's machine".

  • If it is a subfolder of a Mesh folder, it will not be a blue Mesh fodler icon, since it lives within the top level Mesh folder - it is an object within the Mesh folder.
The top level folder should be the blue icon.
I suspect that the folder that isn't synchronizing is a file type that is excluded from sync - since it is owned by Expression, it may be something that Live Mesh cannot sync.

There should be a right click menu for the notifier in Windows 7, so you've got two unique issues, with the non-synchronizing folder being perhaps by design. If you could file two bug reports on Connect for these issues, that would be great.
