Conecting to WHS console from SBS server RRS feed

  • Question

  • I want to be able to monitor an HP X510 box from an SBS console. Is there any way to do so without inserting the client CD and installing the sofware on the SBS console? I have logged into the WHS box using terminal services but:

    1. you are warned to be careful that using anything but the wizzards make break some links (sounds just like SBS !!)

    2. while logged in to the WHS box if you attempt to run the management console from inside the WHS box you get errors and are nofified it must be run from a client.

  • The warning you see when you log in is because there are tools a Windows admin is familiar with which can cause severe damage to your server (the Disk Management MMC snap-in, for example).

Regarding the errors you see when you run the Windows Home Server console on the administrator's desktop, what errors exactly? You can't open a backup when logged into the server, but everything else should be okay.

I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)
