Which are the "Microsoft Offline events" RRS feed

  • Question

  • I dont know whether you guys have observed but in the points table page ( http://studentrockstar.cybage.com/studrockstar/pointsTable.aspx)  it says that 100 points will be awarded for participating in the Microsoft offline events.

    EVENTS & PROJECTS
Participating in Microsoft Offline events 100 You would earn points only for those events, where the points are announced with the event      End of the month

What are the Offline events ?

Taking part in the imagine cup prize distribution ceremony ? etc etc ? Anyone has got point for that ? Also there is no row in the Points table for the same in our User Profile page.

Guys throw some light on this.

  • Dear Friend,

I suppose the offline event is, for sending the user details to admin by scanning our evidence proof.

But I am not clear, might me one among that. I do have one more problem. My points and the listed table points vary about 250 what is the reason. If you know kindly let me to know.

  • @Fredrik... Is it told anywhere that we have to send our information to MS ?  I guess that is only required for those who win the contests. Cause MS can send the gifts to them.

If what you said is true, then only the person who have won the contest, will get the points for the offline activities. Which i guess isn't fair for others. And even if its true, then all who have crossed 10K  will send their information to MS cause ALL WOULD want the gifts. In that case, everyone from them will get 100 points for the same. Then what would be the change in the ranks, I guess this feature would become useless.

  • The offline events are those conducted by your local Student Partner or your Microsoft Campus Club. That too, the event cant just be anything, it has to be a competition and our points will be forwarded to Microsoft.

This is just my opionion and i could be wrong.

  • yes m8, even i thought the same. It could be true. But one thing made me think that its not possible, because it would be unfair. As only a few people will be able to get the points while others who are situated at a different location where those activities couldn't be conducted, will not get the opportunity to get the points for the offline activities. MS should be fair. If they want to be fair, then they should organize the same number of student partner activities throughout  the country.

  • u can attend ms event
    Thursday, May 10, 2007 7:27 AM
  • The problem is that there is no such thing organized at my college or my city.

There was one .NET framework 3.0 seminar, from a Microsoft Evangelist, but no one took the attendance, so i guess no one will get points for the same. No one even mention about the offline activities during the course of the seminar. May be the Microsoft people them self didn't knew about the same.

  • Dear Friend,

I tried to mention only this what you are trying to say is correct

Q: How do I get points for offline activities/ Non Student Rockstar website activities?

A: You get points for these activities by sending the proof of participation to the designated address/e-mail address stdrkstr@microsoft.com, in case of Academic Projects Program and Imagine cup participation. For other offline events, you would earn points as announced along with the event. You would need to fill up the necessary form at the event venue to earn points for that event.

It was given from microsoft on the FAQ's.
