OEM Windows XP in VDI? RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I currently have about 100 HP desktops that I am about to move to a VDI enviroment. My plan was to take the existing PC's and load the VMware "Thin Client" OS. So that they just boot up with a RDP session.

Can I use the existing Windows OEM License in my VDI envirmoment? The HP computers would not have windows installed locally, but would be accessing the "Windows Session" through VDI.

    Is this legal?

  • OEM licenses are only valid with the original computer they were installed on.

They cannot be used or transferred to another device.

  • OK. I know that I can't move or reuse OEM licence, but the question is can I buy new OEM licence for VDI solution in VMware ESX?
