  • A nice little tool a co-worker of mine discovered comes with the CRM 4.0 SDK. It's a command-line tool called MetaDataDiagram.exe, and it builds an ERD as a Visio document for the specified entities based on metadata pulled from CRM.

Documentation can be found here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd393302.aspx

Only caveat is that it takes a lot of time to run and produces a pretty crowded ERD when you try to pull in a lot of entities.

    Pretty slickery nonetheless.

    HTH!

  • Silwood Technology have a tool called Safyr that extracts metadata from Dynamics CRM and then gives features for subsetting the tables into 'Subject Areas'.   These Subject Areas can then be visualised within the product as an ER Diagram, or exported into modelling tools like ERwin, ER/Studio and PowerDesigner
