The newsgroup you posted to is for Live Mesh, so you're rather off topic.
The newsgroup you will want to post to for help with Windows Mail in Vista is here:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx?dg=microsoft.public.windows.vista.mail&cat=en_US_9CA88DDB-D18D-FA0E-A366-6E527B0FBA67&lang=en&cr=USHowever, there are two solutions.
1. Download and install Windows Live Mail -
http://download.live.com - as this natively supports Hotmail account synchronization so that you do not need to use POP/SMTP.
2. Configure POP/SMTP to access your @live Hotmail account:
POP server: pop3.live.com (Port 995)
POP SSL required? Yes
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25)
Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)
TLS/SSL required? Yes
