  So, you just have to assign him a security role that have only the Read privilege for opportunities set to "User" level

  yes, only opportunities which are assigned or shared to his name....he should not be able to view opportunities assigned to other name...

  Thanks a lot....I was able to restrict the user from viewing the opportunities. is there any blog or tutorial to learn more about security roles.
