Product Activastion Key Unauthorised RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I have recently reinstalled my copy of Windows XP SP2. I have tried both forms of activastion (phone and internet) but with no success. This is the 3rd or 4th install as I have had recent trouble with my PC. I have tried the Key update tool but only comes up a message on the lines of "The key you have entered is currently in use, please try again."

    Windows License Type: OEM SLP

Did you change out your motherboard or update the computer's bios recently.  It looks like you are using a Dell OEM install disk with a non-Dell system XFX68L.  If this is the case you can't use the OEM version of Windows as it is tied to the original Dell Motherboard.

If you have tried the Product Key that is on the Dell computer case and it also fails activation, especially when talking to a Microsoft representative then it is time to purchase a retail version of an operating system.
