Importing Notes from Excel RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm working on a Telesales process which involves exporting lead data from our CRM4 system to Excel ( our telesales person is blind and can only work with Excel ). The telesales person will then work with the lead data in Excel, updating where required. I'd like one of the fields in Excel to be notes on the call he makes.

I can import the Excel data back into CRM without a problem, (took a bit of working out), but would like to take the notes field in Excel and add it as a new note to the existing lead in CRM.

Each time the information is uploaded following a subsequent call to the same lead, say three months later, I'd like the note field to be uploaded as a new note. This way we can build a history of the conversations the telesales person has had with the lead.

Questions is, how do we upload a single field in Excel to a new Note entry within the Notes entity of the lead?

Hope this is possible some how... appreciate any comments or questions.

    Best Regards

  • For the kind of flexibility you're after, you'll probably have to go to a third party product like Scribe unfortunately. The import tools of CRM are good for imports but quite restricted for updates.

  • take a look at http://www.crminnovation.com/data2crm.asp it will import 'inline' notes on an insert update basis.
