Windows not genuine popup RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello Team,

In our organization, we use KMS to activate clients which runs Windows 7 Professional edition. It was running smooth all this time and suddenly, we started recieving "Windows not genuine" popup in some of our machine. When cross verified, I see from the computer properties that Windows is activated and slmgr /dlv also confirm activated window. but still the popup appears. If I validate the machine online via www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate , it fixes the issue. Below is the MGA diag result of one of the machine, which was captured before doing the fix. Pls investigate and let us know what causes this issue and how can we avoid it.

  • There's no error showing in the report - everything looks good.

I suspect that the problem may be a race condition.

This occurs when the Software Protection Service and another service compete for the same resources - unless the SPPSVC wins within a given period, it will sulk and throw the error.

Such problems are often caused by either malware, or by over-protective Anti-Virus programs - and can be very difficult to pin down.

Have a look at the Event logs, and see if you an pin down a cause - although usually, there's nothing there that stands out, if you have a number of machines with similar problems, you may be able to find a point of commonality.
