whs and new server RRS feed

  • first question--is whs going to be avalible as a stand alone product?

    I want to buy a good dell 1900 server with alot of bells and whistles, can i run whs on a new server, if i meet all the min requirements?

  • WHS will be available to enthusiasts/developers as a software-only purchase, much the same way that other OSes are available to system builders. There may be a requirement for a token hardware purchase.

    As for the server, if it meets all the minimum requirements, and there are drivers for Windows Server 2003 available for everything, then yes, you should be able to use that Dell 1900. Don't get more than 4GB of RAM; WHS is 32 bit only. And you'll probably be fine with the integrated NIC and HBA.
