Appropriate Forum for Classic ASP to ASP.NET Discussion?

    Question

  • Hi All,

I'm new to the community.  I've been a Classic ASP programmer for a small company for the last 14 years or so.  For a variety of reasons we have opted not to upgrade web site to .NET...until now.

With Windows Server 2003 no longer being supported starting next month, and word from our hosting provider that Classic ASP is "not supported" in later versions of Windows Server, the  word has come down that it's time to make the leap from ASP Classic to .NET.  I'll be the first one to admit -- I know very little about .NET.  Each time I've thought about learning it, I've been pretty confused by all the different options such as C# and VB.Net and the all of the different frameworks.

At this point, I'm looking for answers to the following questions:

    1. Which is the appropriate forum for discussing Classic ASP to ASP.NET conversions?
    2. Knowing that I'm starting basically from zero, what are the best resources to quickly learn what I need to learn so that I can start developing as soon as possible?
    3. Which flavor of .NET should I use in order to get going as quickly as possible?

    Many thanks,

    - Alex

  • Hello,

This should be asked in Microsoft's ASP.Net forums:

As Microsoft's ASP.Net forums are on a different platform, we cannot move the question for you.
