Validation problems RRS feed

  • Question

  • I followed all the steps in your common problems and fixes article, yet I still can't complete WGA validation which is required for some downloads and updates I'd like to run.  It tells me that it can't run the WGA diagnostic tool.  It is not listed in my list of add ons and can't figure out how to get it there.  This is the result of the diagnostic tool:

  • Where do I get this utility so that I may run it and post the results?  I posted the results of the WGA, but what is the MGA?   Thanks

To be very specific, the issue you're having is *NOT* WGA related. It seems to be that your system may be compromised by malware, etc - as your MS XML services are not running correctly (as pointed out by the diagnostics tool).

I would suggest trying to download http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?familyid=993c0bcf-3bcf-4009-be21-27e85e1857b1&displaylang=en and updating your MSXML services, or going to www.support.microsoft.com and filing a Windows XP support request.

  • I saw this in posts about similar problems, but wasn't sure what to do.  There are 4 different downloads in this link and I'm not sure which one('s) I need.  Being an amature to this stuff, I know very little about MSXML, or what it is.  Can you please give me more directions?  Thanks

  • Please download the file named msxml6.msi (1.5MB).  Afteward, right-click on the file and select "Install".

  • Installed that one, still no luck.  Still getting the message that I am not able to run the Windows validation assistant.

Your computer isn't able to run validation at all - there are some serious configuration errors (as well as your OEM binary files are modified in such a way that prevents validation from occuring). Its probably best if you submit for a free WGA service case below, so our support agents can walk you through steps to resolve your problem.
