  • Question

  • Hi, all.
We work in  Workgroup Edition . But now we get a Microsoft Dynamics CRM 4.0 Professional Edition . How to transfer base from installation Workgroup Edition on Professional Edition. The base changed, use scripts on javascript and own entity. How to transfer it entirely with customisations and the data?

  • Hi Elka,

I haven't found an information in the IG, but it should be possible to upgrade a Workgroup edition to a Professional edition by upgrade the license in the Deployment Manager. Just open Deployment Manager right click on License and Upgrade your license.

If this does not work you can also uninstall CRM, this does not delete the underlying databases, and install CRM 4.0 with the new license key and the old database.

    Best regards,

  • As Jurgen says, it should be a case of just upgrading the licence. If it is a case of going to a new server, you still will not need to use the data migration manager and the deployment manager will 'reattach your old database tot he new server. You can definately do this through the deployment manager as I've done it myself.

  • Hi Elka, the Data Migration Manager is not necessary. You just have to upgrade the license key.

The Workgroup edition can be installed on an second server for testing purposes. You can use a Redeployment to use your old database for testing and developing.
