Paid for one year subscription but says I have 18 days left before I have to renew!! RRS feed

  • Question

I downloaded the program yesterday & paid for a one year subscription.  Subscription shows that it is enabled & all the payment info is there in Accounts & Billing.  When I open the program it states I have 17 days left before I have to renew.

I did download a 90 day trial before I paid for the subscription.  The program looks activated since it is green status in the Toolbar-I just can't seem to end the trial version!  I don't want the program to end & say I have to renew since it doesn't expire until this time next year.

Appreciate the guidance in this matter!  Thanks!

If you purchased OneCare online, then click the Subscribe Now button in the main OneCare window and login using the Windows Live ID you used to purchase your subscription. This should activate OneCare.

If you bought a retail box, then click the Subscribe Now button in the main window, login using your Windows Live ID and you will be redirected to the OneCare billing website. Select the option to enter a prepaid PIN, and enter the product key from inside your retail pack. Then return to OneCare and login again, and this should activate OneCare for you.

If you activated/subscribed, and if your subscription to OneCare shows expired or about to expire in OneCare

~Check your PC date and time.
~Check your subscription status by logging in with your subscription LiveID at http://billing.microsoft.com
~Confirm that this is the same LiveID shown to be the Subscription ID in OneCare - Help/About...

If your subscription is correctly shown at the Billing site, but incorrect in OneCare and your PC date and time are correct, please contact support.

  • Thanks for responding sooo quickly!  I did purchase & download online but cannot login to using my Windows Live ID!  It looks enabled since the icon turned green on the task bar & in billing & accounts it states that it is enabled.

  • Open OneCare and click Help/About... Is the subscription ID listed there your LiveID that you see the subscription active with at http://billing.microsoft.com?

  • Thanks so much for responding.

I downloaded OneCare online.  But, now, I think I know the problem.  When I downloaded the FRee Trial  I didn't have a Wondows Live ID....  I created a Windoes Live ID when I purchased the program through Billing & created a Windows Live ID...Don't you think that is why I cannot subscribe because I have a different password???

Should I uninstall then download again & try to subscribe again??  Rita

  • Hello Stephan,

Thanks for your assist & patience in this matter!!

I canot update my trial version when I click Subscribe.  It won't accept my Live ID.  I didn't create a LiveID until I downloaded & purchased the program through Billing..

Could that be why I can't subscribe the version I have now because I changed my password??

Should I uninstall & re-download & then try to subscribe with my Live ID??

When I open About it only shows the Product ID # & my LiveID is not listed next to it.  But, I am able to login w/ my LiveID in Billing & it shows the program is Enabled & shows my amount purchase.

I'm sorry that I haven't been able to resolve this issue, but, I am new to Windows Vista...and this LiveID stuff.

Just want to be able to subscribe since I dished out $50.00 for this program!!

  • Since you have confirmed that you have an active subscription for a LiveID at http://billing.microsoft.com I think you should try the following:

    1. If there is a link in OneCare to subscribe, and there is a LiveID already populated, see http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2776450&SiteID=2

    2. If there is no LiveID shown in the login window after you click the link to subscribe from within OneCare, but your LiveID and password are not accepted, make sure that you are typing the password and not copying and pasting it.

    3. It may be worth uninstalling and reinstalling just to make sure that you don't actually have the beta version of you PC if you installed the trial back in November.

    4. And, remember, you can contact support for help.
