Valid Windows 7 showing as invalid after anti-virus switch

Question
-
My computer is an HP TouchSmart 310 with Windows 7 installed, purchased new. I've had the bundled Norton Anti-Virus for the last 3 years. This year, rather than pay another year for Norton, I decided to switch to Computer Associates Total Defense Suite, as it's free for Cablevision customers/employees.
Since I did the switch, I am getting the error when I boot "Windows 7 Build 7601 This copy of Windows is not geniune".
Here is the info from the diagnostic tool:

No, never post your COA Product Key online. From the desktop, right click Computer then select Properties. At the bottom should be an Activation link or button. Use that to enter in the key that is listed on the COA sticker. And you may need to activate over the phone.

You need to put in the Product Key that is listed on your COA sticker, and the OS version has to match what is on that sticker as well.Wednesday, September 25, 2013 7:27 PM

Thanks for the reply. When you say I need to put in the Product Key from the COA sticker, do you mean I need to post it here for troubleshooting purposes, or do I have to put it in the computer somewhere for validation?Wednesday, September 25, 2013 9:43 PM
