An unauthorized change was made to Windows RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been having trouble with windows activation.  I was getting a messge as follows:

    "Windows Activation
    An error has occurred
    Code: 0xC004E002
The software licensing service reported that the license store contains inconsistent data"
After following the instructions on another forum post listed here:

Specifically, renaming the "tokens.dat" with "token.bak" enabled me to re-input my Windows Vista Home Premium product key.

However, after doing this, I receive a message that says:

    Product key error

"The product key you have entered will not work with this edition of Windows Vista.  You must either run Windows Vista Setup or enter a Windows Vista Home Premium product key."

Any help would be very much appreciated.

    ·         Home Basic

    ·         Home Premium

    ·         Business

    ·         Ultimate

    2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?

    3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?

    4. Please provide the customer scenario you are experiencing.

    5. DO NOT post the Product Key.

Not sure what to look for, see this page to reference your COA:
