Money Back up and reopening RRS feed

  • Question

  • Does anyone know why money plus won't backup? I upgraded to Windows 10 and now when I back up after downloading the information from my bank and close the program it does not save. It backs up but when I open it I only see what was backed up before I upgraded from windows 7 to 10. I have money plus deluxe version 17. Everything else works fine, I can open it and I can bring in my info. I checked and it looks like all the files are located in the correct locations. Is anyone else having this issue?

  • Are you sure that your Money.mny file is in your Documents folder?  If it's in, for example, the Program Files folder, Windows won't save changes to it.

For your backup location, look at Tools>Settings>Backup Settings to be sure that the Automatic Backup is also going to a location in your Documents folder. Better yet, save it to a different drive if you have more than one.

And, as always, be sure that the scheduled backup goes to some external media such as a flash drive so that you can recover if your hard drive fails.

One other possibility is that the "upgrade" to Windows 10 has changed your Documents folder to "Read Only".  In that case, see:

  • Thank you for the help. I looked into the location of the files and they were not in the correct locations. I moved everything as you suggested and now it opens and backs up correctly. But now when I bring information in from my bank Money crashes. It is odd because it only happens with a couple accounts and not all of them. Would you know what the reason for this might be?

  • This crashing behavior is a known issue with Money Sunset running under Windows 10.  I should have mentioned that in my original reply.  You need to replace your mnyob99.dll file with a patched version.  Se the first "sticky" post in this forum:

Another post that has more detail on how to make the replacement is:
