Cannot get wifi to work on my windows xp

  I cannot get my wifi on my windows XP to work. Every time I download a wifi software it says I have to enable something in the computer devises. I've tried to find the folder but I can't. And every time I press the wifi button the blue light wont turn on. Please, can someone help me get my wifi on please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
