My Forums Threads takes a while to update RRS feed

  • Question

  • Seems like there's some major performance issues with the My Forums Threads page.  Is this updating off of the RSS feed or something?  It takes quite a while for threads to find their way to that page, and at my last page refresh, new threads showed up that I had viewed, but had new replies more than an hour ago.  I typically respond very quickly to people's threads, and this delay is slowing down my response time considerably.  Is there a way this can be fixed?

  • My threads is based off of the aggregated db since it's a query for threads that span any number of forums. The aggregated db is updated via a scheduled job that runs I think every 5 minutes. It's also possible that the job fails and would then just retry at the next interval. So <most> of the time the view will lag behind by around 5 minutes or so. If you jump between a specific Forum and My Forums Threads you can get side effects since one is real time and the other is a mixture.

I'd put this feature as immature and something we want to steadily improve, so it's great that many of you are using it and providing good feedback I think as we get the kinks ironed out, we'll be able to increase the frequency of the update job and get this closer to real time.

  • Unread in My Forums is definately not working.

I opened five tabs, clicked the Unread filter in all of them.  They were fresh tabs with freshly opened URLs.

My Forums: shows "No Threads Found".
Visual C# Language: Displays 1 thread.
Visual C# General: Displays 18 threads.
Windows Forms General: Displays 9 threads.
.NET Base Class Library: Displays 4 threads.

Somethings not right.  No wonder I've thought today's been quiet.
