Avoiding looking at old threads RRS feed

  • Question

  • After this week's update, forum views with the Unread filter turned on now display a full list of threads.  It's not working for me, I find myself blundering into old threads repeatedly, especially in the My Threads page.  Or missing updates, especially when the thread is marked answered.  With over 240 pages of threads in my My Threads page, getting them to be registered as "viewed" will take me a month of clicking.

Does anybody have any tricks or tips to avoid this?

  • Hans,
    Try this:
    1) Log in
    2) Click on "My Threads" button
    3) Click "Unread" filter

I just tried this and I'm not seeing posts which I've already read.

Did you log in with a different LiveID account?  (just checking...)

  • The problem is the old threads that got transferred from the V2.4 site.  All 6000+ plus of them.  There are another 7000 awol.  I've read them all, once, but they are not marked as read at this site.  Getting them marked as read is going to take me a month of clicking.

  • Just in case you might consider it: it's okay with me if you run a dbase Update query that marks all threads before the switch-over as "read".  I really did read them all.

  • Hans,
Thank-you very much for the details and feedback. This sounds like a data migration issue. I'll let the data migration team know.

Also, I'll take a look into getting your migrated posts marked as 'unread' for you. That way you won't have to read them twice.
