Transforming desktop app. into web app. RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Forgive me if I am asking this in the wrong forum, but I've been trying, for a few days now, to get this "simple" question answered.
If I have a Winforms desktop application that was created through Visual C# Express 2008. How can I transform this into a web application that can be accessed via a server host somewhere on the network? I don't wish for it to be installed via a certain URL (in which case ClickOnce would help), but rather I would like it to execute and run through a specific URL address on the intranet.

    Thanks,

  • if you're wanting to have a windows app execute on a remote server, but have the UI visible on the client, then you'll want to look at a product like Citrix for the solution.

  • There's no way to mass convert windows Forms applications to Web Applications.  At best, you can do what the the Web Developer, also in Houston (as I am) suggested and look into Citrix.  Windows Forms controls don't translate to Web controls.  It's a different beast entirely.

Valid, but I don't think that Windows Control Library is available in the express edition, and even if it is my application is already built as a windows form, and I was looking at a way to migrate it to a web address rather than rebuilding it according the process in the article.

    houtexwebdev and
    houtexwebdev
, do you guys know if the application you're referring to is the Access Essentials product from Citrix?
