The ID and password do not need to be your email address, but it does need to be a valid LiveID as that will be the account information for OneCare. If you want to change this, since you have not yet activated, you can uninstall and reinstall OneCare and proceed with activation using the LiveID you want to use. You can make your email address be the LiveID by going to http://account.live.com
As for the product key, I often need to use a magnifying glass to confirm the exact letters in the key.
