  • Yes, I have a softcopy of the book (as everyone who bought that book, because the PDF is delivered on the CD, too!).

And NO, I will not break the copyright and ask all other to do it that way, too. At least I like the Self-Paced Training Kit books and hope that the missing books will be published soon, too. And I hope that Microsoft Press keeps this practice to hand out a PDF for free because it is simply a great practice. (I own a Kindle DX and it is simply great to copy the PDFs on it!)

    With kind regards,

    Konrad

  • Hmm ... good question. I think it depends on my mood and what I really want to do.

When I really want to read something, then I prefer the DX. Reading longer parts at a computer is nothing I really like (in the past I printed stuff just to read it not while sitting at the computer).

But when doing some practice parts, then the computer is great. You just keep the pdf open next to visual studio and it is a great experience that way.

Today it is also possible to check out the available tablets. They have color displays (harder to read for a long time. eInk is better but has no color) and you can only read a few hours (With my kindle I recharge it only about once a week with a lot of use!). The technology of the tablets is great but they are much more expensive!

Ohh ... you are in the US? Then you can even use the browser of the kindle (Not available in germany. I only get the free delivery of ebooks through 3G :( ). That could be something very nice if the online reading at oreilly or books24x7 works (which I couldn't test :( ).

Hope that was the information you was seeking. Feel free to even contact me directly (konrad at neitzel dot de) if you have more questions regarding the kindle.

    With kind regards,

    Konrad

  • Good to hear Mr.Konrad that you have the soft copy of the book, how about sharing it..?

It will be very useful for me and ofcourse to those who wish to prepare for the exam.

I am not ordering you to share the book, if you have any problem in sharing no need.

    Anyway thanks.

  • Hi Konrad,

Side Subject do you use the DX in preference to a computer screen if you have both available?

    Kind regards,

  • And NO, I will not break the copyright

I even gave an explanation for this. I am a person who even buys the books just to get the PDFs to support the Authors. If all people only copy the book and share it, then the authors might think that their work is not required. Why should they write a book about the Visual Studio 2010 exams if the 2008 exams was only of interest for a few people?

I am a person who really hope, that there will be new books for the MCPD exams. (The 70-549 is the latest one available :()

And personaly I do not even see a requirement to steal the copyright. At least in germany it is possible to:
    - go to a library and borrow the book (Including a system where a book not available localy is ordered from another library - all libraries are connected to a big network!)
    - go and find the book used (Amazon.com offers used books, ebay is available, ...)

So I think that there are good reasons to not share these books over the internet.

    With kind regards,

    Konrad

  • Konrad,

Even though you requested to delete this post, I think it’s better to keep it so people realize that asking for copyrighted book is not right and you have a very good explanation for it.

If you still want me delete it, let me know, I will delete it.

  • Hi Rubel,

I think it is ok. I just feared that there could also be some other answers with links to some sites where copyright is not respected. :)

    With kind regards,

    Konrad
