Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007: Validation Incomplete [0x80180112] >> on Vista RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm not the only one having problems with [0x80180112], but all the comments about deleting a DATA.DAT file won't work with me: the file doesn't exist on my Vista Home Premium-computer.

So what can I do? Please note that I'm not a really experienced user, so please explain step-by-step.

The message I get when try to validate (to install extra features, like the pdf-feature), is:

This computer has failed validation. Expand for details.

    Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007:

    Validation Incomplete
The validation process could not be completed. Necessary files may have been tampered with. The validation tool is unable to verify whether your copy of Office is genuine.

    [0x80180112]

    Thnx for helping!

  • Edwin,

First we really need to see the whole diagnostic test results. In turn we can analyze the specific issue in-depth. Please download and run the utility at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 , then click the Windows tab, Copy to Clipboard, then paste the report into a response message in this thread.

Step 2 is tell us about the COA. Tell us:
    1. What edition of Windows XP is it for, Home, Pro, or Media Center?
    2. Does it read "OEM Software" or "OEM Product" in black lettering?
    3. Or, does it have the computer manufacturer's name in black lettering?
    4. DO NOT post the Product Key.
Please also provide a short description of the issue you are experiencing.

    Thank you,

  • Edwin,

While we are awaiting the diagnostic's results here is some information which may solve the problem.

The 2007 Office programs take full advantage of the self-repairing features that are offered by Microsoft Windows Installer.  If a resource that you must have to start a 2007 Office program is missing, such as a file or a registry key, the Windows Installer detects the missing resource and repairs the program.  The following Knowledge Article (KB):  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/924614/en-us describes how the repair process in the 2007 Microsoft Office system programs works.  Additionally, this article lists step-by-step methods that describe how you can use the repair process in the 2007 Office programs.

Visio Pro 2003 isn't activated which is causing the problem.  Please telephone activate this product by the following steps:

    1) Start Visio Pro 2003 program.
    2) In the “Office Activation Wizard”, click the “Activate by using the telephone” option, and then click Next
    3) Read the “Microsoft Office Privacy Policy” page, and then click “Next”.

Note You are not required to read the Microsoft Office Privacy Policy to continue these steps in Microsoft Office 2007. A link to the Microsoft Office Privacy Policy is provided so that you can read it at any time.

    4) In the “Select your location” list, select a country or region. Call the telephone number that is listed on line 2. The customer service agent will ask you for the installation ID and will give you a confirmation ID in return. Type the confirmation ID in the boxes provided.
    5) Click “Next”.
    6) On the “Activation Complete” page, click “Finish”.

  • Hello Stephen,

Thanx for your help. The diagnostic test results are at the end of this post.

    As for your step 2:
It's a Windows Vista (not XP!) Home Premium and the COA says 'OEM software'.
The problem is, as stated before, that I'm not able to validate my Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 (I was trying to download the PDF-tool). What may be of interest is that it is a re-install of Office 2007 on a new computer, because the old (XP) computer is broken...

I also tried your suggestion to use the  self repairing feautures of Office, but no problem was found.

    Thanks,

    Edwin
