Live mesh installed twice on 2 users same PC RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Well, Ive got Live mesh client installed on my vista machine,

For example I would be Bob, so Bob has live mesh installed and is syncing and has folders set up.

John comes along with his user account, on the same computer wanting to use live mesh, with my user name but finds the client is not showing up on his user login.

John installs the live mesh client onto his side and is able to sync folders aswell as Bob. Problem is in the Live mesh tree the computer appears twice.

Not sure if this is a bug so i'll leave it up to open discussion.

    Thanks,
    Jase

  • Hi Jase,

For Live Mesh a "device" is determined by the Windows account, so two different accounts are two different devices, even if they are both on the same physical computer.  If both accounts are claimed as devices under the same Live Mesh ID, then both of them will appear in the device ring (even though they are both on the same physical computer).

Is this the situation you're talking about?  (In your scenario, John would install Live Mesh using the same Live ID as Bob.  Is that correct?)

    Ben.

  • Yeah that's right, Is it not a little weird to have 2 sets of live mesh installed.

Would it not be better to incoperate some sort of feature to allow logging into the right user account mesh?

  • I think this is reasonable.

  • Hi Jase,

We are in the Tech Preview stage, so there are lots and lots of changes/additions still to come, many of them driven by community feedback.  So, if you haven't done so already, please feel free to add your suggestion to our Wish List sticky thread.  We are using that thread to keep track of what, and how often, suggestions are made here on the forums.

    Thanks,

    Ben.
