Why would you even consider purchasing software on eBay when over 50% is counterfeit!

Because of the good deals on the remaining 50%. BTY it's probably closer to 90% fake. Even so, there's still plenty of people selling stuff they bought, never opened, and decided not to install. That market alone makes it worthwhile shopping on eBay and then with all the counterfeit stuff on eBay selling so cheap it makes the deals on the legitimate stuff that much sweeter. It would be nice if microsoft published better information about what real genuine labels look like. The information on howtotell site is old and antiquated and doesn't help at all. Microsoft doesn't want a secondary market for their retail products even though perfectly legal. They want each sale to be final even if the package was never opened or installed.Friday, July 27, 2012 6:50 PM -
It's the software bits within the CD/DVD and the license that determines if the software is genuine or not. Exterior packaging can be easily copied and duplicated nowadays. Most people who end by purchasing counterfeit software can't even get refunds and then have to purchase the real McCoy.
