how to read only the changed content from the snapshot?

    Question

  • Hi,

We want to read only the changes from a snapshot.

Is there a way to perform this?

    1. Create VSS (Volume Shadow Copy ) snapshot.
    2. Read the VSS snapshot file to detect changed content (hopefully blocks?)
    3. Copy only the changed blocks, detect which origin block the content is a copy of.

ORIGIN is the live NTFS (volume), for example C:

SNAPDEV is where the snapshot block changes is stored

Before a block is changed on [ORIGIN], its original block will be copied to [SNAPDEV], and a reference pointer is stored on the [SNAPDEV], which expains where its [ORIGIN] block is located.

    Regards Tomas

  • Hi Tomas,

This forum is used to discussions the issue related to Access develop, your issue is not related to it.

How do you want to read the change content from the snapshot? Through .Net application with C# or VB language? If so, please post it CLR forum or Visual Studio Languages forum.

If you want to read it through UI. You may post it to Windows 10/8/7 forum.

  • You've posted in the wrong forum. This one is for Microsoft Access, a database application.
