  • Question

  • I built a test lab

    3 servers

    Domain controller

    Exchange Server

    OCS Server

         I prepped Server... IIS...

    I downloaded OCS Standard.msi

    Directions say

    1. Download the appropriate file(s) by clicking on the links below and saving the file(s) to your hard disk.
      • For OCS_EE_Eval.msi or OCS_SE_Eval.msi:
        1. Double-click the program file on your hard disk to extract the trial version files.
        2. From the directory where you extracted the files, go to \Setup\I386 and start the Setup program.
      • For CommunicatorEval.msi, double-click the program file on your hard disk to install the application.
    2. Follow the instructions on the screen to complete the installation.

I double click and it starts to install.......not extract

    No problem

I follow the install and click next>next>next

"Error attempting to read from the source install database

    C:\windows\installer\ebc0a.msi"

There is no such directory. Install Fails

Did I miss a step or something?

  • Thank you,

I tried to download a couple more times.  After about the third or forth is appeared that XP was offering me the "temp" file that was already downloaded (Download took 5 sec)

FYI: The downloads looked OK it was during the install that I encountered the errors.

I cleared IE, history, temp files......

I downloaded again and it installed fine. Probably the third download.

I perfomed all on the same machine.

  • Usually indicates a corrupt msi, there have been posts about this previously.

  • Try downloading the software again on another computer. If the second download does work, can you let me know when you downloaded the first time? We thought we had figured this out, but if it is still happening we need to know asap.

    Thanks.
