A question on earning points...

As mentioned on the Student Rockstar Main website, I posted on the forums of my interest but that didn't help me in adding any points to my profile. I provided my Display email that I got during the registration for the Student Rockstar contest.
Also I didn't have to register to any forum, but the rules mentioned on the Student Rockstar website tell us to first register on any forum before posting. What could be the reason behind this?
