Need your advice regarding upgrade from CRM 4 to Dynamics CRM 2011. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,
I need some advice regarding upgrading from CRM 4 to CRM 2011. Our customer has 3 intances of CRM 4 installed. They want to upgrade to CRM 2011 but have a small issue. They dont want to upgrade to 3 seperate instances of CRM 2011 bur rather want only 1 CRM 2011 instance with three business units. basically they want to combine the data from 3 CRM 4 instances into 1 CRM 2011 instance and only seperate the data based on business units.
    1) What would be the best way to achieve this?
    2) Do I need to upgrade one of the CRM 4 instance to CRM 2011 instance and then import the data from the other two CRM 4 instances into this?
    3) Could you suggest me the best practices to do this?
    4) Do I need to take care of any aspects when doing this upgrade?
Any helpful suggestions from you guys would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Nemath

  • Hi Nemath,

Upgrading one org and then importing the data from the others is your best option. There is no merge organisation upgrade path. Make sure you reconcile any differences in customisations before you proceed so that you have a super set of customisations to import into.
