  • Diggatm,

Could you run the diagnostics tool once again please, or is this the diagnostics data from the 2nd run?

  • Derrick,

I am having the same problems that Diggatm is experiencing.  I talked to MS support this am for 3+ hours with not results. They suggested I contact the OEM and ask for a new product key.  OEM said MS does not allow them to hand out product keys and said MS should be responsible for validating thier own software. One of the side effects that I am experiencing is that I am not able to update software from other venders. I suspect the Windows Installer will not work if XP is not validated.  I am on hold with MS now and will look for your response as well as update any new info I get.

  • Derrick,

Also,  I am also getting the following message after I try MGV. Notice that it is trying to validate Vista even though I have XP SP2.

    [0x80080101]

Unknown error encountered during Windows validation. The validation service is unable to determine whether your copy of Windows Vista is genuine. Please validate again. If additional attempts result in validation errors you may want to try again later.

  • Diggatm,

well then lets try this manually,

    1.

Click Start, and then click Run.

    2.

In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.

    3.

At the command prompt, type "regsvr32 softpub.dll", and then press ENTER.

    4.

Click OK when you receive the message that DllRegisterServer in Softpub.dll succeeded.

    5.

    Repeat steps 1 through 4 for the following files: Wintrust.dll, Initpki.dll, Dssenh.dll, Rsaenh.dll, Gpkcsp.dll, Sccbase.dll, Slbcsp.dll, Mssip32.dll, and Cryptdlg.dll. Remember to put regsvr32 in front of al the dll's in mention. ("regsvr32 wintrust.dll")

    "regsvr32 wintrust.dll"

    "regsvr32 Initpki.dll"

    "regsvr32 Dssenh.dll"

    "regsvr32 Rsaenh.dll"

    "regsvr32 Gpkcsp.dll"

    "regsvr32 Sccbase.dll"

    "regsvr32 Slbcsp.dll"

    "regsvr32 Mssip32.dll"

    "regsvr32 Cryptdlg.dll"

    6.

Type exit, and then press ENTER to quit Command Prompt.

I probably should point out I'm using an nLitend XP. That is, stripped of several services and features of windows. So, could possibly be something I've removed. All the above files seem to be presant as they registerd, but is there any other part of windows, either service or file wise that's specificly needed???

    Cheers
